Reunions are also meaningful in a way when bonds are reattached to each other. How To Balance The Precarious World Between Being A Mother And An Artist

One door reads motherhood and one door reads artist, that is what I formulated in my mind. I somehow decided that two rooms were important for self expression, when I walked through the artist door I had to be completely absorbed in that space without letting any other energy into that domain. And when I entered the motherhood room I could be a full-time mother. I would push out any other thoughts that threatened to take me away from being the greatest mother I could be. these two rooms dominated my life and thoughts...they had completely different paint colors and furniture choices, they had different light sources and floor coverings. In short they were individual in every sense of the word.

I thought I was brilliant in coming up with this metaphor...I was completely sure I had found the truth that would set every mother free...the truth that the two worlds/rooms had to be kept separate in order for the person outside of motherhood, the artist, to survive. I fought day and night to keep this virtual deception going and deception is what it really boiled down to.

I realized ever so dramatically that the two rooms hindered my progress as both an artist and a mother...what it did was encourage me to put time limits and restrictions on both parts of me. It set the stage for the battle to begin. I kept saying that I wanted my life to be artistic in every sense of the word but I was isolating my art, pushing it into a corner, further into its room, what started to happen was I stopped visiting the artist room as often. I found myself frequenting the motherhood room more, my natural instincts kicked in hard. I kept saying - putting motherhood first was what was important, what I hadn't realized (with all of the bouncing around) was that if I let things be. I would naturally be a great mother and at the same time my art would get a chance to breathe, my art would visit me while I took my little girl for a bike ride.

I finally realized I had to take the two rooms and merge them, make one big beautiful bright playful room. One magnificent place to share, grow, shine, write, and love in, that is now my life, and a big part of my journey as a creative being.

So I finally figured out how to balance the precarious world between being a mother and an artist, it is by never looking to be one without the other and to gracefully let the two become one!

Guilt and the Busy Father

Fathers are often the people who earn the money in the family. Their role is usually to be the provider and the protector of the family. Often the time and effort of shouldering this responsibility takes a lot of energy and commitment, sometimes leaving very little of either for the family and the children. Guilt often becomes an important factor.

Let's look at some of the areas that can cause guilt:

- The amount of time spent at home is often a guilt issue for fathers. Many men are required to work away from home, sometimes for long periods of time. Some dads work long days, going out in the morning before the children awaken, coming home at night after they are asleep. It can be difficult being part of a family on a relatively part-time basis. The children's daily lives can become an increasingly unknown area.
  • Discipline is sometimes a difficult subject for a father. The 'wait till your father comes home' school of thought can be an unfortunate way for children to get to know their father, and many men want to have a more affectionate relationship with their children. But fathers often want their children to be polite and well-behaved, to treat people with respect. Sometimes children need a man's firm presence to insist on acceptable behaviour.
  • Demonstrating being an effective male role model is an important part of being a good father. Many men have guilt about the way their children sometimes see them behave. Being busy, stressed, irritable at times is part of life but is sometimes communicated in unfortunate ways. Children see how their father handles problems, how he treats other people and their mother. His drinking habits, way of life and hobbies are all absorbed by interested children.
  • Money can be seen as a way of compensating for not being around as much as he would like. Becoming a soft touch, a hand out whenever the children want money can sometimes become a way of compensating for lack of time spent with them or for being bad-tempered when stressed and tired. Children will take the money and treats but will often prefer to have time spent with them. Many children value doing things with their father; going to a match, playing in the garden, even helping with do-it-yourself jobs around the house are often treasured times spent together.
  • Time is a precious commodity. Remembering those interviews with celebrity fathers or hearing the stories of men who are becoming fathers again with their second or even third families might help to put the importance of time into perspective. Many fathers regret how busy they were the first time round, how they were not available for their children and are now determined to do it right this time. Those precious missed moments cannot be repeated. Sometimes it worth pausing and weighing up what is being gained and what is being lost when time is initially being allocated in the diary.
Many men relish becoming a father. Whether it be a son or a daughter they are often filled with pride at the thought of their child being a part of their life. And yet often, life gets in the way of that precious time. Balancing commitments and ensuring that there is enough quality time and energy to enjoy children growing up, to ensure that memories are built and relationships established is an important way to minimise guilt in the life of the busy father.

Impact Of Good Early Childhood Education On A Child

Today when the subject of early childhood education is discussed our thoughts go to grade school youngsters or children in kindergarten. However, the focus of early childhood education indeed considers all children from birth to the age of 5 years old. This is part of our government's findings about the impact of good early childhood education.

The Human Services and the Dept. Of Education are working in line to ensure the child care education programs across the US have a strong strategy for the education and care of our preschoolers. An announcement from the National Academy of Sciences publications says that early childhood education and care taking for our preschoolers needs to work together when meeting early requirements of children across the US. The program for preschoolers are being designed with both these components in mind for childcare education.

A change will be happening as the first graders will be groomed in cognitive and social readiness when they enter the first grade of school. This move is prompted by calls to the White House to act upon some research studies done that indicate the positive impact of Head start programs and other childcare education studies. Program evaluations found early child care and education made an impression upon the cognitive skills, health and behavior status of children through graduation.

The Head start programs and plans which sent nurses into homes of mothers and their infants, as well State Pre-K programs, delivered early childhood education information to parents about their physical and emotional health. Statistical evidence provided information that children safety issues improved. Reports of parents served in these programs for early childhood education were positive for the entire family unit.

The same children who started out in early childhood education programs decades ago were tracked and the results show reductions in criminal behavior resulted. There are also indications that the dropout rate was decreased because issues that began for children were addressed before they ever entered the first grade. Researchers in kindergarten and preschool education discovered that those who drop out of school must be attended to before their third grade class in school.

The reports of positive results in lowering dropout rates and criminal behavior came from improved behavior and better IQ's achieved in kindergarten education programs. These reports, after the program evaluations, were the reason people called the White House for continued funding to support early childhood education for all children from birth to kindergarten.

In conclusion, the program evaluations of early childhood education determined the long term results were an investment. Every dollar spent on these programs produced a return worth seven times the investment. Costs to care for the jailed dropouts arrested for criminal behavior and the indigent adults without education; they bear upon society's purse strings to further fund welfare and prison systems. Both the people and the government are in favor of preventative efforts established by the kindergarten programs.

The Advantages Of Assisted Living And How Facilities Can Help

It may be difficult having to come to the realization that a loved one can no longer go through their daily routine on their own. Perhaps it is parent or grandparent that needs special care. In many cases their offspring can not take them into their own home to care for because they do not have the specially needed facilities and equipment to accommodate them. Many people cannot afford to stop work in order to provide full time care and hiring a round the clock in-home caregiver is too expensive. Sadly, in a great deal of cases, many people do not have anyone close to them that may provide care so assisted living facilities become the final option.

There are millions of people who are in need of assisted living all over the world because they can no longer conduct activities of daily life (ADLs) on their own. This usually refers to the elderly but can also include those with disabilities. This type of care usually means that a person resides in a facility where normal daily needs such as eating, bathing, dressing and taking medications are conducted under the supervision or with the assistance of trained professionals.

In most cases a person who resides in these establishment requires help in at least three ADLs. These are people who do not require the intensive amount of care that could be present in a nursing home and requires a more social environment to be comfortable.

Statistically, residents of these facilities are women which outnumber the men three to one. Most are widowed but some still have husbands, wives, or significant others. The average age of one of the residents is 86.9 years and the average length of care is around twenty eight years.

One of the largest advantages is that of the social environment that these residences provide. Large common areas are available for eating with others and this helps to mitigate the loneliness many elders feel. This is a primary difference between ALFs and intensive care units where patients are kept bedridden and hooked up to monitoring devices most of or all the day.

Also, the residents need not be concerned with the preparation of meals. A trained kitchen staff offers three meals a day in a community dining hall where the people who live their can converse and mingle if they choose to do so.

Many of the newer facilities provide the residents with many amenities that are akin to still being independent while always ensuring that trained assistance is close by. For instance, in many cases a person may be given their own apartment type living area. No special monitoring equipment such as might be present in nursing homes are needed but basic household chores are provided by the staff. Bedding changes, trash removal, laundry services and fresh meals are provided daily.

Several assisted living facilities also offer service to the mentally ill. This is primarily reserved for people who are in certain stages of dementia, to include Alzheimer's disease. However, other types of patients with mental disabilities are welcome in some cases as long as they do not pose a threat to others or themselves.

How to Get Teen Help and Succeed with a Positive Role Model

Mentors Can Provide Great Teen Help

It would be nice if it hard work guaranteed success, but unfortunately, too many people are working hard at the wrong things. Literally thousands of students around the world are putting their daily focus and energy into things that are causing them to under-achieve, or even fail. It’s harsh but it’s true.

Success is easier than most people think. Just like there are recipes you can follow to consistently cook fantastic food, there are proven recipes you can also follow to get great teen help and consistently achieve your goals.

A quick recipe for Teen Help

So where can you find these time and pain saving strategies for success? Well, you’ll find them in the people that surround you every day (in your hometown and online).

You don’t need to reinvent the wheel in order to create the life you want. It’s likely that someone else not far from you has already achieved the goals you want. And, if you replicate a successful person’s thoughts and behaviours, you can achieve the same results too.

Here are six simple steps for getting good teen help and achieving more of what you want:

1) Write down a specific goal that you want to achieve.

2) Identify someone who has already achieved that goal. (Find an older student, a teacher, or alternative mentor.)

The world has an abundance of kind and caring people that will be willing to help you, but there are some odd balls out there too, so please ensure you complete a thorough check into the background of anyone you’re considering using as a mentor. It’s essential you take some time to ensure your mentor(s) are honourable and trustworthy.

Never ever communicate with anyone (online, by email, via phone, in person or any other way) without first informing your parent or carer about what you’re doing. And certainly never meet up with anyone (online or in person) without first gaining permission from your parent or carer. For your safety it’s essential that you always inform your parent or carer about what you’re doing.

3) Ask your mentor to tell you in detail what they did to achieve the goal.

4) Shut up, listen, and take notes. Do everything you can to remember the advice you’re receiving.

5) Using the guidance you’ve received from your mentor, write your own detailed action plan. In other words, outline the specific step you must take to achieve your goal.

6) Take action. Do what you have to do to create the success you want. Use the action plan you outlined in Step 5 above to guide you along the way.

These steps worked for me when I was a teenager, so I’m sure they can work for you too. Anyone can be successful, and more people would be if they took the time to get a good mentor.

In my opinion one of the best forms of teen help is get a positive role model or mentor you can learn from. You simply have to learn from the best if you want to be the best.

Be unstoppable!
